Peazip is another file archive much like Winzip and 7zip but just like 7-zip it is open source software. There are no spyware installs or other malware that comes with freeware today. PeaZip can extract most archives including the .ace format.
It also compresses and decompresses 7z, rar, tar, and the usual zip file formats. There is now also support for the experimental PAQ/LPAQ format which when mainstream would be another very powerful format. Unlike other archives, PeaZip also supports secure deletion and has strong encryption standards. The software has a clean look, easy to use and will open most every file available today.
Note : Doesn’t support the creation of RAR files
Full support: 7z, FreeArc’s arc/wrc, sfx (7z and arc), bz2, gz, paq/lpaq/zpaq, pea, quad/balz, split, tar, upx, zip
The instillation of PeaZip is easy enough. It will ask you if it should be associated with all file or you have a custom install where you have an option to decide what you want PeaZip to open. Many people have more than one compression utility running. The standard install should be good for most people.
Running : PeaZip
Once you open the program is is much the same as Winzip and other compression programs. The layout is nice and clean and easy to understand. The user interface is clean and easy to understand and it has many compression options.
This was the version used during the testing. I do not update the files once I have tested it so you will need to search the internet for the latest files. This is the file that was used for the screenshots above.
